Three Year Olds

Once your child turns 3 years old, you will notice a tremendous increase in understanding and communication. Children at this stage will typically be ready for more advanced language development/vocabulary as well as pre-writing/reading activities. Children improve social skills as they learn to “use their words” to interact with their peers.

We build on our theme-based curriculum in this classroom by introducing early phonics and math skills: recognizing letters and some letter sounds and adding two groups of concrete objects by counting. We also introduce seasons/weather, days of the week, feelings, and the concept of time (yesterday, today, tomorrow)

Multi-sensory activities provide opportunities for children to be engaged in learning in a variety of ways. Daily activities include group circle time, center-based learning, songs and fingerplays, art & social experiences, gross and fine motor skill development and verbal communication. Physical play is also important, and we provide scheduled outdoor and indoor physical activities throughout the day. Play is learning!

Staff are properly trained in toddler appropriate practices. They are also CPR/First Aid Certified. Continuing education takes place in regular intervals throughout the year. We maintain a maximum ratio of 15 three-year-olds to one staff with an assistant as needed. Children must be eligible for the VPK class in order to move into VPK.
